If you don’t already know, Procter & Gamble is BIG in the consumer goods industry. They are a leading multinational in CPG (consumer packaged goods) who are known for their innovation that “wins from the top”. Don’t let that scare you though, it shouldn’t! They really like pharmacy graduates and usually recruit them into their entry-level jobs because of our bright minds! Our guest speaker, Michael Cannon, explained that a lot of skills required for a job/internship at P&G are taught to pharmacy students. His emphasis on chemical formulations for the synthesis of products shows that the company is actually very scientific! Michael Cannon suggested that only penultimate students apply for internships (3rd year of 4 year degree), and last year students apply to their entry-level jobs. PhD students can benefit of their PhD intern programs. His advice to freshers and sophomores is for you to ‘experience as much of the world as you can’ to differentiate yourselves from other candidates in future positions.
