Get ready for more drug ads: Facebook is making a bid for pharma dollars

Facebook has partnered up with Bayer and promoted one of their drugs for multiple sclerosis, Betaseron, last month. The social media giant has been attempting to partner with other pharmaceutical companies and agree on promotion products.

Profits aside, Facebook wishes to bring the community together with these advertisements. They aim to create “community pages” which, for example, will bring together people who share similar medical conditions.

‘Drug makers, like all advertisers, can specifically target certain demographics and interest groups in Facebook’s pool of 1.7 billion monthly users’ (taken from STAT news).
